Football workshop at Grundschule Mitte Oberursel

Since December 2023, 1. FC 04 Oberursel e.V. has entered into a cooperation with Grundschule Mitte Oberursel as part of the DFB program “Schule und Verein: gemeinsam am Ball!”. The aim of the agreement is to provide new impetus for children’s footballing and sporting development. From the start of the second half of the 2023/24 school year, a football workshop will therefore take place every Friday from 13:30 for 90 minutes under the guidance of a youth coach from 1. FC 04 Oberursel e.V. Up to 16 pupils aged between 6 and 8 are thus given the opportunity to receive additional basic sports training with a football-specific focus in a fun way through the extra-curricular sports programme. We were overwhelmed by the demand, which far exceeded our offer. It is therefore our firm aim to enable “more” children to participate in the coming school year.

Football workshop at Hans-Thoma-Schule Oberursel

Since September 2023, 1. FC 04 Oberursel e.V. has been a partner of the football workshop at the Hans-Thoma School in Oberursel. The Hans-Thoma School is a special school for children with a focus on “physical and motor development” and “learning support needs”. As part of the “Promotion of cooperation between schools and sports clubs” programme of the Hessian Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs and the Hessian Football Association, we are offering a football club in the 2023/24 school year. Every Thursday, a coach from our club takes over the training with currently 9 pupils from the middle school. The focus of the club is on “awakening enthusiasm for a sport and training in the club”. We have developed an annual concept for the training content and have given the participants T-shirts with our club logo and the team name “OBERURSEL UNITED”. The enthusiasm and commitment are great and we are sure that some of the children will soon dare to try out for our children’s and youth teams. During the second half of the school year, we will invite the pupils and their families to a match of our first team and to a team event on our sports field.

Support of HOPE CAPE TOWN Trust Capetown, South Africa

During our regular visits to Cape Town, we decided to support the local HOPE CAPE TOWN Trust with donations in kind, such as children’s jerseys, footballs, etc. Founded in 2007, the trust has set itself the task of improving the quality of life of children, young people and families affected by HIV, social challenges and the associated difficult living conditions. Our board member Björn Urban, who has been closely associated with the Trust in his private life for over 20 years, says: “Sport in particular is often the only way for children and young people in the townships to escape their difficult everyday lives. It is therefore a pleasure for us to give the existing football teams in the townships a uniform outfit, for example with youth jerseys, and thus also an outwardly visible feeling of togetherness and community”.
